Steve Smith replaces MS Dhoni as captain of RPS:- Today former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been sacked as the captain of the IPL team Rising Pune Supergiants & appointment of Steve Smith as their new captain for the forthcoming edition of IPL season 10.
The decision comes a day before the players’ auctions scheduled to be held in Bengaluru. Under MS Dhoni”s captaincy Rising Pune Supergiants only managed to win only five of their 14 matches in the IPL 9.
MS Dhoni himself asked team management to step him down as captain and wanted to be part of the team as player only, says ANI.
“We have opted for Steve Smith as captain of RPS for the forthcoming IPL season. Mahi was cooperation personified when we conveyed the decision to him,” RPS owner Sanjeev Goenka was quoted by India Today.

“I have the highest regard for MS Dhoni as a leader and a person. Dhoni will continue to be an important part of our team. He is supportive of the decision keeping the franchisee”s best interests in mind.” Rising Pune Supergiant Owner, Mr. Sanjiv Goenka was quoted by India Today.
MS Dhoni is among the most successful captains in the IPL. MS Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings to back-to-back titles in 2010 & 2011. He also led Chennai to the Champions League T20 trophies in 2010 & 2014.
