Out-of-favour Indian opener Prithvi Shaw recently visited Mumbai’s Shree Babulnath temple with popular influencer Akriti Agarwal. The 26-year-old sought blessings from Lord Shiva at the iconic temple following the IPL 2026 auction. Shaw went unsold in the main auction and remained without any bids in the accelerated round.
His luck changed in the third round near the auction’s final stages, when Delhi Capitals (DC) signed him for his base price of ₹75 lakh. The dynamic batter will make his return to the league after being unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. To celebrate the moment, Shaw also offered prayers at the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati temple, marking a spiritual start to his IPL comeback.

Prithvi Shaw has a long-standing connection with Delhi Capitals, having made his IPL debut for the franchise in 2018. He stayed with the team until the 2024 season before being released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
“Every player faces ups and downs”- DC owner on Shaw’s IPL 2026 bid
DC co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi spoke about signing Prithvi Shaw following the IPL 2026 auction. He highlighted that Shaw had performed well for the franchise in the past and emphasized that every player experiences highs and lows. Grandhi added that Shaw now has a chance to make a strong comeback. He told India Today:
“Prithvi has done well for Delhi Capitals in the past. Every player goes through ups and downs, and this is an opportunity for him to make a strong comeback. We see this as a second chance for Prithvi, and I’m really looking forward to seeing him return to Delhi, take this opportunity seriously and give his best for the team.”
