Star batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has shared a major health update during the ongoing five-match T20I series between India and South Africa. Jaiswal was hospitalised due to acute gastroenteritis. He fell ill on December 16 during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025-26 match between Mumbai and Rajasthan, where he had scored 15 runs off 16 balls.
He later experienced severe stomach pain and was admitted to the hospital. Jaiswal, however, reassured fans that there is no cause for concern. The left-handed batter confirmed that he is recovering well, thanked the medical staff for their support, and expressed his gratitude to everyone who wished him a speedy recovery.
“Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the overwhelming good wishes over the last few days. I’m recovering well, grateful for the fantastic medical support, and looking forward to being back on the field soon!,” Jaiswal wrote on his official X handle.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Hits Brilliant Century In 3rd ODI Against South Africa
Yashasvi Jaiswal was not included in India’s squad for the T20I series against South Africa but featured in the ODI series in Shubman Gill’s absence. While his contributions in the first two matches were limited, he showcased his true potential in the third and final ODI. India were chasing a target of 271 to clinch both the match and the series.
Opening the innings, Jaiswal played a brilliant unbeaten century, scoring 116 off 121 balls with 12 boundaries and two sixes. The left-hander anchored the chase and guided India to a comfortable victory in just 39.5 overs, with nine wickets to spare. For his match-winning innings, Jaiswal was named ‘Player of the Match,’ a performance that also sealed the series for India.
The Men in Blue will next host New Zealand for a limited-overs series in January 2026, and it remains to be seen if Jaiswal will feature in that lineup.
