Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines Despite Early Dismissal

India’s teenage batting sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, had a mixed evening in the Under-19 Asia Cup final against Pakistan in Dubai, showing flashes of brilliance before an early dismissal. Chasing a daunting total of 348, the 14-year-old began in fearless fashion, racing to 24 runs from just nine balls and momentarily lifting Indian hopes. However, his aggressive approach soon led to his downfall as he attempted to take on a short-pitched delivery from Ali Raza, only to edge it behind to the wicketkeeper. His wicket left India struggling at 49 for 3 in a high-pressure chase at the ICC Academy Ground.

The moment was further intensified by an animated send-off from Raza. As Suryavanshi walked back, emotions spilt over, with the young left-hander exchanging words with the bowler and nearby Pakistan players. He was also seen gesturing, including pointing towards his shoe, in what became a talking point of the final. The brief confrontation underlined the intensity of an India-Pakistan clash, even at the junior level.

Sameer Minhas Anchors Pakistan’s Dominant Batting Show

Earlier in the contest, Pakistan laid the foundation for their imposing total through a remarkable innings from Sameer Minhas, who once again highlighted his class with the bat. Minhas produced a commanding knock of 172 runs off 113 deliveries, steering Pakistan to 347 for 8. It was his second century of the tournament and another reminder of his growing stature in age-group cricket.

Minhas took charge after Pakistan lost early wickets and ensured that the momentum never dipped. His innings was packed with authority and clean striking, as he consistently found the boundary and cleared the ropes with ease. By the time he was dismissed, he had single-handedly placed Pakistan in a commanding position.

Pakistan’s Batting Depth Overwhelms India

Pakistan entered the final brimming with confidence following a comprehensive semifinal victory over Bangladesh, and that assurance was evident from the outset. Minhas was particularly severe on India’s new-ball bowlers, Kishan Singh and Deepesh Devendran, punishing any loose deliveries. He reached his hundred in just 71 balls and continued to accelerate, finishing with an innings that included 17 fours and nine sixes.

This century followed his unbeaten 177 against Malaysia in the group stage, underlining his consistency throughout the competition. With such a massive total on the board, Pakistan kept India under constant pressure, setting the stage for a gripping but ultimately uphill chase for the defending side.
