India all-rounder Harshit Rana has reportedly been sidelined from the T20 World Cup 2026 due to a knee injury, just days before India’s tournament opener against the United States on Saturday, February 7.
The setback occurred during India’s lone warm-up match against South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Rana managed to bowl just one over in the game against the Proteas before leaving the field visibly uncomfortable.
He did not return for the remainder of the match as the issue persisted. While the Indian team did not immediately release an official update on his condition, a report from the Times of India claims that the injury has ruled him out of India’s World Cup campaign.
“Big blow for India..pace bowling allrounder Harshit Rana ruled out of T20 World Cup 2026 due to knee injury,” the report stated.
Team India are also monitoring the fitness of all-rounder Washington Sundar, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a side strain and a rib fracture at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
If both all-rounders are ruled out of the tournament, the selectors could be forced to look at replacement options, as the team would otherwise enter the competition without a dependable backup for the vital No. 8 position.
Harshit Rana Played IND vs NZ 2026 T20Is After Axar Patel Injury
The pace-bowling all-rounder earned a spot in the playing XI after Axar Patel picked up a finger injury in the opening T20I against New Zealand in Nagpur. Harshit Rana went on to play three matches in a row before making way for the spin all-rounder once Axar regained fitness.
However, Rana struggled to make an impact against the Black Caps, even though he managed to dismiss Devon Conway on multiple occasions. He finished the series with just two wickets from three games, conceding runs at an economy of 11.27 and averaging 62.00, marking a disappointing campaign.
