Pacer Mohammed Siraj was spotted arriving in Mumbai as he linked up with India’s squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. In a video circulating on social media, the right-arm fast bowler was seen posing for pictures with the paparazzi after landing in the city.
Siraj was officially announced as Harshit Rana’s injury replacement on Friday, February 6. Rana was ruled out of the tournament after suffering a knee injury during India’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match against South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Below is the video capturing Siraj’s arrival in Mumbai ahead of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener:

The reigning champions will kick off their campaign against the USA on Saturday, February 7 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the co-hosts enter the tournament as strong favourites to lift their third T20 World Cup title.
Mohammed Siraj Set For Possible Return In India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Opener
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj could be in line to play India’s opening match of the tournament after a report in The Indian Express stated that Jasprit Bumrah is suffering from a viral fever. Consequently, the pace spearhead is unlikely to be rushed back for the opener against the USA.
With Bumrah reportedly unavailable, the 31-year-old Siraj may share the new ball with Arshdeep Singh or slot in as the first-change bowler. Siraj was part of India’s title-winning T20 World Cup squad in 2024, although he featured in only three matches, picking up a solitary wicket at an average of 57.
Arshdeep Singh replaced the Hyderabad pacer in the latter phase of the tournament, a decision that eventually paid rich dividends. Meanwhile, India currently have just 14 fully fit players in their squad, with spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar still awaiting fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
Sundar is recovering from a side strain sustained during the recent ODI series against New Zealand.
