India star Shubman Gill got a warm welcome when he reached Ahmedabad to join Gujarat Titans (GT) before IPL 2026. He will once again captain the team in the new season, which starts on March 28. When Gill arrived at the airport, people welcomed him with dhol beats, and many were dressed in traditional clothes.
One super fan even touched his feet as a sign of respect. The fan was wearing a special T-shirt in GT’s colors with Gill’s name and jersey number on it. Gill looked stylish in a brown jacket and a black T-shirt, along with glasses. Fans were busy taking pictures while he was escorted out of the airport. After that, he got into a car and left.

Shubman Gill eyes another IPL trophy with Gujarat Titans in 2026
Gujarat Titans (GT) finished third in the league stage of IPL 2025. They played against Mumbai Indians(MI) in the Eliminator but lost the match by 20 runs. This time, Shubman Gill will be eager to lead his team to their second IPL title. GT had earlier won their first title in 2022 under Hardik Pandya.
Gill performed really well last season. He not only took the team to the playoffs as captain but also scored important runs. He was GT’s second-highest run-scorer, making 650 runs in 15 matches with an average of 50 and a strike rate of 155.87, including six half-centuries.
This season, Gujarat will hope their captain delivers a similar or even better performance. In the first phase of IPL 2026, they will also play against Rajasthan Royals on April 4, Delhi Capitals on April 8, and Lucknow Super Giants on April 12.
