IPL 2020 is just upon us as everyone is waiting for the T20 extravaganza to commence in the UAE. This so far in the UAE hasn’t quite gone according to plan as far as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are concerned. Several staff members and 2 players were tested COVID-19 positive and then their two veteran players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh pulled out of the upcoming IPL.
It seems that CSK might look at possible replacements for Harbhajan but whereas Raina might just feature in IPL 2020. Earlier Raina owing to personal reasons had left the CSK quarantine and flew back to India. Since then, various reports have hinted that the star CSK batsman might decide to join his team again after few IPL matches.
Raina can come back in IPL 2020 – Deep Dasgupta
Now former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta also believes that Raina will be back in the UAE and will play the IPL 2020. Also, CSK has still hasn’t decided to find a replacement for Raina and the move suggests that Raina can decide to come back and join his IPL franchise.
“I have a feeling that Suresh Raina will be back playing the IPL. He might miss out on the first few games because of the quarantine rules and all but I have a feeling that Suresh will be back. I won’t be surprised if they don’t pick a replacement for Suresh”, Dasgupta told ESPNCricinfo.
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina who announced his retirement from international cricket was leaving no stones unturned to prepare for IPL 2020. After the announcement of IPL in UAE, Raina was seen training with Rishabh Pant and looked eager to perform for the 3 times IPL champs Chennai Super Kings.
However, Raina chose to be with his family and bowed out of IPL 2020. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Raina in this year’s IPL. The 13th edition of the league will be played between September 19- November 10 in a bio-secure bubble in the UAE.
