Gujarat Titans (GT)

The Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a dramatic four-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 46 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, May 3. In a game that swung like a pendulum until the final delivery, the Titans chased down a target of 164 with just one ball to spare.

This win marks a hat-trick of victories for the Titans, moving them up the points table and further solidifying their playoff credentials. Earlier, GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field, a decision that paid immediate dividends.

Mohammed Siraj dismantled the Punjab top order in the very first over, dismissing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly on consecutive deliveries. Kagiso Rabada maintained the pressure with a rare maiden-wicket over, dismissing Prabhsimran Singh (15).

Reduced to a perilous 47/5 by the ninth over, Punjab looked destined for a low total. However, young Suryansh Shedge played a brilliant rescue knock, scoring 57 off 29 balls with five sixes. He shared a 79-run stand with Marcus Stoinis (40) to help Punjab reach a competitive 163/9.

Jason Holder was the standout bowler for GT, finishing with career-best figures of 4/24.

Sudharsan Anchors Titans as Punjab Bowlers Spark Late Fightback

The Titans’ chase began with the early loss of Shubman Gill, but Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a composed 57 off 41 balls. Sudharsan hit five boundaries and a six, keeping the required rate under control alongside Jos Buttler (26).

Despite their steady start, Punjab’s bowlers, led by Arshdeep Singh (2/24) and Vijaykumar Vyshak (2/31), fought back in the death overs, removing Sudharsan and the dangerous Rahul Tewatia to set up a tense finale.

With 11 runs needed off the final over bowled by Marcus Stoinis, Arshad Khan struck a crucial boundary to bring the equation down. The game reached its climax with three runs required off the final two balls.

Washington Sundar, who remained calm under immense pressure, sealed the victory by smashing a low full-toss over the fine-leg boundary for a massive six. Sundar finished unbeaten on 40 off 23 balls, while Jason Holder was named Player of the Match for his match-defining spell earlier in the evening.
