Injury Blow For CSK: Emerging Talent Out Of IPL 2026 With Foot Fracture
Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been sidelined for the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 after suffering a foot fracture. The 28-year-old had only recently made an impressive debut in CSK’s eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, May 2.

The franchise confirmed that the injury occurred during that match, though no announcement has been made yet regarding a replacement.

Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026. Get well soon, Rambo,” an official statement  read.

The all-rounder made an immediate impression on debut, pulling off a brilliant catch to remove Will Jacks early, and then delivering a disciplined spell of 1/24 in three overs, which included the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.

Ramakrishna Ghosh had also slipped on the pitch during his follow-through while bowling the very first delivery of his IPL career, after being brought into the attack in the eighth over. At the time, it didn’t seem serious as he went on to complete that over and bowled two more without showing any signs of discomfort.

CSK will now need to review their team combination ahead of their crucial away clash against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, May 5.

Multiple Injury Blows for CSK as Ellis, Mhatre, Khaleel Miss IPL 2026

CSK’s injury concerns began even before the IPL 2026 season got underway, with Australian pacer Nathan Ellis ruled out of the entire tournament. The team brought in Spencer Johnson as his replacement, though he is yet to play a game.

MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis also picked up injuries during the build-up to the opening match. While the South African all-rounder recovered from his side strain within the initial weeks, uncertainty still remains over the former skipper’s calf issue.

Meanwhile, Khaleel Ahmed sustained a quadriceps injury, and Ayush Mhatre suffered a hamstring tear during matches against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), respectively. Midway through the season, CSK opted for Akash Madhwal as a replacement following a round of trials.
