The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continued their late-season surge in IPL 2026, securing a commanding 8-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, May 8. A breathtaking maiden IPL century from New Zealand’s Finn Allen made a mockery of a modest chase, as KKR hunted down the target with 34 balls to spare.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, KKR’s disciplined bowling attack immediately put the hosts under pressure. Despite a brisk start from Pathum Nissanka, who struck a well-made 50 off 29 balls, and KL Rahul (23 off 14), Delhi’s middle order crumbled against Kolkata’s spin trio.
Anukul Roy was the standout performer, taking 2/31 and dismissing both Nissanka and Tristan Stubbs in a single over. Supported by Kartik Tyagi (2/25) and a miserly spell from Sunil Narine (1/17), KKR restricted Delhi to a below-par 142/8. Only a late cameo from Ashutosh Sharma (39 off 28) provided some respectability to the DC total.

Finn Allen’s Blazing 47-Ball Century Steers KKR Past Delhi Capitals After Early Wobbles
The chase began with early drama as KKR lost Ajinkya Rahane (13) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (1)cheaply, leaving them in a brief spot of bother. However, Finn Allen, who had struggled for big scores earlier in the season, chose the perfect moment to find his rhythm.
Partnering with Cameron Green (33 off 27)*, Allen initially played with caution before launching an all-out assault on the Delhi bowlers. In a stunning display of power-hitting, Allen smashed 100 off just 47 balls*, including 5 boundaries and 10 massive sixes.
He reached his century in spectacular fashion, hitting a six off Mukesh Kumar to both bring up his milestone and seal the victory for his side. The win marks Kolkata’s fourth consecutive victory, significantly boosting their playoff chances while leaving Delhi Capitals on the brink of elimination.
