Cricket, Cricket everywhere!

Cricket is a highly followed and celebrated sport in India. Not only do people follow it with a high amount of craze but also the streets and grounds in our localities are filled with masses where they enjoy the game and display their talent. Be it the social media debates or live discussions, we Indians never shy away from giving our opinions and putting ourselves in the place of the experts. Well, in this plethora of thoughts, opinions and suggestions, who would have thought that one coming from a 12 year old will result in a hat-trick in Indian Premier League.

Omkar – Paul the Octopus of Cricket….

Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis and Jaydev Unadkat from Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) interacted with the kids at the Apang Kalyankari Shikshan Sanstha (APSS) in Pune. Omkar Pawar, one of the kids had put his confidence on display and in a video had advised the left arm pacer to grip the ball across the seam. Impressed with his unabashedness, he was called on the stage when the trio visited them. Jaydev Unadkat reconfirmed with Pawar how should he bowl and the lad replied – “Aise karne ka” (Bowl like this). He wouldn’t have had slightest of a hint of the fact that he was being listened to carefully!

17th Hat-trick of IPL

The conclusion of this decision completely turned out to be in Pune’s favour. Jaydev Unadkat went on to bowl the cross seam deliveries and chipped in a hat-trick dismissing Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. This came in the last over when Sunrisers Hyderabad were chasing 149 and needed 13 off the last over.

With the hat-trick, the 25 year old Jaydev Unadkat completed 100 wickets in T20s. 4-0-30-5 were his figures at the end. It was humble of the young man to not only execute the advice but also to take to Instagram and post a video thanking and crediting Omkar for his wonderful performance. Moral of the story stands that every advice is valuable and you never know, it may make you the owner of a much lauded feat!
