Shubman Gill Leads from the Front with Great Batting in IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has delivered an exceptional individual performance during the league phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, consolidating his status as one of the premier batsmen in modern T20 cricket.

Leading the franchise from the front, the stylish opening batsman guided his team successfully into the marquee playoffs. Across 13 league innings, Gill aggregated an impressive 616 runs at an excellent average of 47.38 and a formidable strike rate of 161.67.

His clinical consistency was highlighted by six half-centuries, with a top score of 86 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders. In the final league-stage fixture against Chennai Super Kings, Gill smashed a rapid 64 off 37 deliveries, combining with opening partner Sai Sudharsan to form a commanding 125-run stand.

During this highly productive campaign, the 26-year-old achieved major historical milestones. He became the youngest batsman in tournament history to surpass 4,000 career IPL runs, eclipsing a long-standing record held by Virat Kohli.

Furthermore, Gill completed 6,000 runs in broader T20 cricket and became only the third captain in IPL history to register consecutive 600-plus run seasons, positioning the Titans optimally for postseason success.
