[WATCH]- Yashasvi Jaiswal Falls For 24 Off 32 Balls After Soft Dismissal In IND vs AFG 2026 Test

Yashasvi Jaiswal endured a soft dismissal after getting strangled down the leg side during India national cricket team’s first innings on Day 1 of the one-off Test against Afghanistan national cricket team on Saturday, June 6, in New Chandigarh. The wicket fell on the final delivery of the 12th over.

Mohammad Saleem Safi delivered a 132.9 kph short-of-a-length ball drifting down the leg side. The left-handed opener tried to glance it fine but could only get a faint edge through to wicketkeeper Afsar Zazai, who safely completed the catch behind the stumps. Watch the dismissal clip below:

Sai Sudharsan Comes In At No. 3 Following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Dismissal

Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first for India national cricket team. The Afghanistan national cricket team bowlers kept things tight early on, with Yashasvi Jaiswal getting a lifeline on 11 in the sixth over, while KL Rahul struggled to time the ball properly.

On the opening delivery of the 11th over, Ziaur Rahman Sharifi bowled a length ball outside off stump, and Rahul attempted a cut shot. Although there was a noise as the ball passed the bat, the visitors chose not to review. UltraEdge later showed a spike, handing the India opener a reprieve on 16.

Afghanistan eventually struck through Mohammad Saleem Safi, who removed Jaiswal for 24 to break the 41-run opening partnership. Sai Sudharsan then arrived at No. 3 as the visitors continued to maintain disciplined bowling lines.

At the time of writing, India were placed at 46/1 after 15 overs, with KL Rahul batting on 17 and Sai Sudharsan unbeaten on four. The ongoing fixture is only the second Test clash between India and Afghanistan national cricket team. Their previous meeting came in 2018 in Bengaluru, where India registered a massive innings-and-262-run victory.
