Universe Boss Chris Gayle made a much-anticipated comeback to the IPL in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah. He scored 53 off 45 balls to take his team to a win, which was only their second of the season so far. He added a 93-run stand to almost guarantee the win, which became a little tricky at the end. KXIP got much needed two points and now sit at four points from 8 games looking to move up the ladder in the second phase of the league stage.
Meanwhile, after scoring his fifty against his former club, Gayle pointed out to “The Boss” sticker on his bat which was his signature move to celebrate his 29th IPL fifty. In a conversation with the commentary panel after the match, Gaylee revealed the reason why he did so.

Put Some Respect On The Name: Chris Gayle
He said that having so much much in the game since the last two decades, all he wanted was for people to show some respect towards him and his achievements in cricket.
Gayle is the undisputed champions in the T20 format having amassed 1000- T20 runs and hitting 18 centuries in the process. He also has scored a triple century in Test cricket and has played 103 matches to boot.
“All I was saying, put some respect on the name [by pointing to his bat sticker]. That’s all,” he said.
He further explained the reason behind, him coming into bat at number three in the batting order.
“It was a very sticky surface, very slow, but it was better batting second. Team asked me to do a job at 3 and it wasn’t an issue. Openers have been batting well throughout the tournament and we didn’t want to disturb that. Like I said, I was given a job and took it,” Gayle said.
KXIP will next take on Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
