The fall and rise of Ruturaj Gaikwad is something we have witnessed in this IPL season. Talking about his rise, Faf Du Plessis went on to compare the young batsman from Pune to young Virat Kohli. As we all are aware of the talks Ruturaj Gaikwad has been making among his fans with his back to back half-centuries for the Chennai Super Kings franchise.
The latter was first asked to bat in the middle order in the first few games where he just could not excel. After the match against Rajasthan Royals where Chennai required to strike at nearly 15 per over, When Gaikwad went into bat he stepped out of the very first delivery eventually getting stumped by Sanju Samson after which a lot of discussions took place about the youngster’s intention to step out on the very first delivery followed by which he was dropped from the side for a brief period.
The next time he made a comeback into the side it was an opener and after which there was no looking back for the Pune boy as he notched up three back to back fifties, the latest one coming against Kings XI Punjab where his side comprehensively defeated them by 9 wickets to knock the KL Rahul led side KXIP of the IPL playoff contention.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Looks Like A Young Virat Kohli: Faf Du Plessis
After the match got over, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s opening batting partner Faf du Plessis compared the looks of Gaikwad to young Virat Kohli of what he was about years back. He further heaped praise for the lad for his composure while batting as he specifically mentioned how pressure situations just don’t affect Virat Kohli.
“He (Gaikwad) looks like a young Virat Kohli doesn’t he. What stands out for me the most is is his composure. Pressure situations don’t really get to him. That is always pleasing to see in a young guy and looks like he has a bright future,” Faf du Plessis said at the end of the game.
Coming late into IPL 2020, Ruturaj Gaikwad amassed 204 runs from six games at an average of 51 including three back to back fifties.
