Brisbane Heat received a massive jolt with star cricketer AB de Villiers pulling out of the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). While the reason remained unknown and the fans continued to speculate, Heat head coach Darren Lehmann has finally spilled the beans.

His signing attracted a lot of eyeballs last season which also added value to the tournament. AB de Villiers turned up for Brisbane Heat in six matches and scored 146 runs at an average of 24.33. His presence is a major boost to any side and Brisbane will certainly miss the former Proteas cricketer.

“The main one, aside from the challenges represented by Covid-19 and international travel, is that AB and his wife Danielle are expecting their third child very soon,” he added.

Darren Lehmann further added that they will be keen to work with AB de Villiers in the future when situation permit. Meanwhile, he has been excellent form for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL as they continue their hunt for maiden IPL trophy.

“Naturally we’re very pleased for them and know that the next few months will be a very special time for all. We’ll stay in contact and see what develops. He has been in excellent touch in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore, so he obviously remains a player we’d like to keep working with when the circumstances allow,” he added.
