India’s decision to bring back KL Rahul to replace the inform Abhinav Mukund paid dividends as the Karnataka opener scored his sixth consecutive test match fifty in the second test match against Sri Lanka today.
India was off to a flier after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan once again played a fluent innings before getting out to Dilruwan Perera. Rahul continued his good form and became the third Indian batsman after Gundappa Vishwanath and Rahul Dravid to score six fifties in a row.
However, Rahul was run-out at the score of 57 due to miscommunication between him and Cheteshwar Pujara. Chandimal was quick enough to grab the opportunity and threw the ball at the keeper’s end where Rahul was meters away from his batting crease.
Rahul was furious at his partner for not responding to the call at the first go. It was evident from his gestures that he was not all pleased with his partner’s role.
