KL Rahul had the best seat in the house during the first ODI between India and Australia when Glenn Maxwell was on fire. The Australian batsman had been searching for batting form in IPL 2020 playing for Kings XI Punjab. However, his IPL skipper KL Rahul constantly backed the explosive batsman but he failed miserably.
Maxwell who is known for hitting sixes couldn’t even execute one single maximum in the entire IPL season. All eyes were on him when he came out to bat against India when his side was eyeing a huge total. Many believed that he will continue to struggle in international cricket but the story was completely different as soon as he donned the yellow of Australia.
Apologized To KL Rahul While Batting- Glenn Maxwell
Batting at 5, Maxwell had the license to accelerate from ball one and he did just that. He smashed 45 runs in mere 19 balls with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes as Australia posted a gigantic total of 374 after 50 overs. Maxwell who was woefully out of nick in IPL scored runs for fun against the Indian bowling attack at the SCG and rubbed salt into the wounds of his KXIP skipper.
Interestingly it was a good day for another KXIP all-rounder who had a disappointing IPL season. New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham played an impactful knock of 48 in just 24 as his side defeated West Indies in the first T20I. KL Rahul would have certainly had mixed emotions seeing the form of Maxwell and Neesham who couldn’t even buy a run playing for KXIP.

After the conclusion of the match, Neesham who is known for his sense of humour on Twitter shared a hilarious meme. It was concerning the way Rahul must have felt while seeing Maxwell dominate India in the first ODI. Maxwell saw the meme and took a playful dig himself by commenting that he apologized to KL Rahul while he was batting with laughing and heart emojis.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell could only muster 108 runs at an average of 15.42 and a strike-rate of 101.88 in IPL 2020. Neesham was even worse as he just scored 19 runs in his 3 innings and sat on the bench for the majority of the season. KL Rahul will be wishing that the two all-rounders show the same kind of prowess when they next play for KXIP.
