Sri Lanka have recalled their veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews for the two-match Test series against England in Sri Lanka. The series will begin on 14th January at the Galle International Stadium while the second Test will begin on 22nd January 2021. After having missed on during the tour of South Africa where Sri Lanka failed to secure a win, the Sri Lankan selectors have decided to recall their most experienced batsman for the all-important series against England.
The injury contingent from the tour of South Africa comprising of Dhananjaya de Silva, Kasun Rajitha, Santhush Gunathilake, and Dilshan Madushanka have been left out of the squad for the Two Tests against England while pace bowler Nuwan Pradeep has been recalled after having missed out on for the tour of South Africa.
Left-arm chinaman Lakshan Sandakan and off-spinner Ramesh Mendis have also been included into the side as the spin bowling option besides Dilruvan Perera, Lasith Embuldeniya and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Sri Lanka Recall Angelo Mathews For Two Tests Against England
Angelo Mathews who registered his highest Test score during the Zimbabwe series picked up an injury during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League which is why he missed out on getting picked for the tour of South Africa. The inexperience in the Sri Lankan batting unit was evident as they suffered a 2-0 whitewash against South Africa.
Dhananjaya de Silva, Kasun Rajitha, Santhush Gunathilake, and Dilshan Madushanka – are left out from the squad, owing to injuries and on the form, which was whitewashed 2-0 in South Africa. Pace bowler, Nuwan Pradeep is recalled along with Roshen Silva, Lakshan Sandakan, and uncapped off-spinner, Ramesh Mendis is included in the senior Test side for the first time.
