Zack Crawley till then had batted well but just before the tea break, he was completely deceived by Axar Patel. The Indian spinner flighted the ball generously and Crawley thought the ball would grip and played for the turn. However, the ball went straight on and struck Crawley on his front pad right in front.
Axar Patel Dismisses Zack Crawley On Day 1
Team India knew that Crawley was a goner and straightaway started celebrating even before the umpire raised his finger. The England opener was dismissed for 53 as Axar Patel picked his second wicket of the innings. The visitors are currently struggling at 81 for 5 as Ben Stokes is the lone specialist batsman remaining.

Meanwhile, England won the crucial toss but failed to bat against the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. Apart from Zack Crawley, no other England batsmen looked comfortable against the relentless Indian bowling. The visitors are now struggling to even score 150 runs in their first innings as they are currently 7 down for mere 93 runs.
The momentum shifted when Ashwin picked the prized scalp of the England captain Joe Root. The veteran Indian spinner removed Root for 17 which started the England batting collapse. Since then Axar Patel has tormented the visitors and is one the verge of picking yet another 5 wicket haul in Test matches.
