Sri Lanka is playing a two-match Test series against Bangladesh as a part of the ICC World Test Championship. The first Test match played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium resulted in a draw as both the teams presented a superb show with the bat. However, during the course of the first game, the hosts were dealt with a massive blow as their frontline pacer Lahiru Kumara succumbed to a hamstring injury.

Lahiru Kumara suffered an injury while fielding on Day 3. The scans confirmed that the speedster will be no longer be able to take part in the Test series. The 24-year-old bowled  28 overs in the first innings, claiming figures of 1 for 88. Apart from Lahiru, an uncapped pacer, Dilshan Madushanka has also been ruled out.

The team has now announced their replacements. They have included Lakshan Sandakan and Chamika Karunaratne in the squad. The information regarding the same was given by the official Twitter handle of Lanka Cricket.

“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that Lakshan Sandakan and Chamika Karunaratne have been named by the Cricket Selection Committee, as replacements for Lahiru Kumara and Dilshan Madushanka, who will not take further part in the ongoing test series against Bangladesh owing to injury. Both Sandakan and Karunaratne joined the team today after going through the required health protocols,” Sri Lanka Cricket said.

First Test Ends In A Draw

The first test match between the two teams was a batting frenzy. It ended in a draw. Batting first Pakistan posted 541 for seven. In response to that, the hosts posted 648 runs for 8 wickets. In the third innings, Bangladesh scored 100 runs but there was no time left. Both the teams did not complete their second innings and therefore the match ended in a draw.

The next match will be played from 29th April-3 May at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. It will be the decider and both teams will come out all guns blazing to win the game.
