Rohit Sharma hit a massive six off Kagiso Rabada bowling in the 6th over when the score was 22 for 0 during the 5th ODI played at Port Elizabeth yesterday. He came down the track and smashed a big six.
Rohit came back into form with 115 runs off 126 balls including 11 fours and 4 sixes. It helped Men in Blue post 274 for 7 in 50 overs. The 3-time double centurion in One-day international cricket registered his maiden ODI century on South African soil which made the life tough for hosts. He took time initially and then put pressure on attacking strokeplay.
It was Rohit Sharma 17th ODI century and the long-awaited century on South African shores. In reply, the South African team were bowled out for 201 in 42.2 overs. Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain to register an ODI bilateral series win on the South African soil. It was good to knock by Rohit Sharma who struggled in the first four matches. He made sure that India does not lose quick wickets from the top.
Dhawan and Rohit Sharma gave India a solid start putting on 48 runs in 7.2 overs, Kohli and Rohit Sharma added 105 runs for the second wicket. The dashing right handed batsman was dismissed in the 43rd over. Team India could only score 55 runs in the last 10 overs.
While chasing, South African openers began well adding 52 runs for the first wicket. It was another great display of spin bowling by Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav who took 6 wickets between them. Team India won the match by 73 runs.
