“They are waiting for their visas. Because of the two holidays (Saturday and Sunday), they could not receive the same through the United Kingdom Embassy office in Sri Lanka. The travel agent has been following up the matter and it is hoped they would leave within 24 hours to join Team India in England”, one of the sources told Deccan Chronicle.
ECB and BCCI arranged special provisions for Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw
Notably, the UK government has put a red alert for tourists from India and Sri Lanka. These rules made it difficult for Suryakumar and Shaw to travel to England for the Test series. However, the BCCI had some talks with England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and they worked things out for the matter. And now due to special provisions, Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw will be available for the series.
In the meantime, Once 21-year-old Shaw and 30-year-old Suryakumar reach England they had to undergo mandatory quarantine. Once the duo finishes the quarantine then only they will be available for the games. Looking at the current circumstances it’s clear that the duo won’t be available for selection in the first two Test games of the series.
Meanwhile, three members from team India was tested positive for Covid-19 during the Sri Lanka series. The first player was Krunal Pandya and the two others were K Gowtham and Yuzvendra Chahal. These players are still in Sri Lanka and will need a negative RT-PCR test to return to India.
