Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft has been officially cleared to play the Grade/club cricket in Western Australia. Bancroft played a vital role in tampering the condition of the ball using a sandpaper in the third test against Southafrica at Newlands, Capetown. He has sanctioned a ban for a period of nine months and wasn”t allowed to play any domestic cricket across the country.

Last week, the leadership group(Smith and Warner) were cleared to play the club cricket in Sydney by the NSW board. The Western Australian Cricket Association took some time to come to a conclusion and finally gave an opportunity to him. Bancroft was granted special dispensation to turn out for his club side Willetton.

“It was strongly debated across a number of areas, but ultimately approved. It”s great news for Cameron,” Western Australia Cricket Association chief executive Christina Matthews said after the meet on Monday evening.

Apart from the ban, Bancroft must also undertake 100 hours of voluntary service in community cricket. Bancroft who made his debut in the Ashes show early signs of maturity as an opener for the Australian test squad. He just played eight tests and regretted his “awful” act that let his career down.

It will be interesting to see how Justin Langer, the newly appointed Australian coach will be able to get the best from him after the ban.
