India beat Scotland by 8 wickets as they chased down 86 within 6.3 overs to boost their net run-rate and stay alive in the race for the playoffs. KL Rahul scored a 19-ball 50 and along with Rohit Sharma ( 30 off 16) added 70 within the first five overs. Both got out getting India to the brink of victory. At last Suryakumar finished the game with a big hit and boosting India’s net run-rate in the process.
India have leaped to the third position in the points table with a net-run rate of +1.619. Afghanistan’s NRR is +1.481 with a crucial game against New Zealand on November 7. If Afghanistan beats New Zealand in their last game, it will be a huge boost for India who play Namibia on the 8th.
India have now won two back to back games by big margins which was the need for them after two big defeats in the first two games.
Indian supporters on Twitter were very happy with the outcome of the Scotland game as they and the Indian players still believe of the improbable.

The equation for semi-final place is simple:
If NZ beat Afg, India are out.If Afg score 150 & beat NZ by….
1 run (India need to just beat Namibia)
10 runs (India need to win by ~3 runs)
20 runs (by ~12 runs)
30 runs (by ~22 runs)
50 runs (by ~40 runs)#T20WorldCup21 #INDvsSCO— Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) November 5, 2021

If New Zealand beat Afghanistan they are through
If Afghanistan beat New Zealand and India beat Namibia then all 3 teams will finish on 6 points and NRR will decide who joins Pakistan in the semi-finals #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/cVzNccex3Y

India needed to chase the target down in 7.1 overs to take their NRR above that of Afghanistan and New Zealand. They have done that in 6.3 overs. Everything for the Indian fans depends on one match now!#INDvSCO | #T20WorldCup

Here is my review of this lovely birthday gift that his team has given @imVkohli what a clinical win this was against Scotland. And the NRR problem is also sorted. Listen in. pic.twitter.com/Wygg2s4JPJ

Not such tough opponent, but India’s strong intent, with and bat and ball was worth watching. Twin objectives of winning match as well as upping NRR substantially achieved. Now for Afghanistan to beat NZ

#India move above #NewZealand and #Afghanistan on net run rate.
Assuming #India defeat #Namibia it's going to all eyes on #NZvAFG

“I was enjoying bowling on this track today. The odd ball was turning, I was enjoying very much. The first one was a special one, whenever you get a batsman out with a turning ball, that’s always special. We were looking to play good brand of cricket. Everybody knows that we had to win with a big margin for us to up our net run-rate, we were looking to play our best game and give our 100% on the field. Everybody’s happy, one more game to go, hopefully we play like this. If we play like this, nobody can beat us. In T20 format, we have to play like this” said Ravindra Jadeja who was adjudged as the Man of The Match for his spell of 3/15.
“A dominating performance, something that we were striving to do again. Now it will be interesting to see what happens on 7th (November). Don’t want to say a lot about today’s performance, we know what we can do. Also tells you how important the toss can be at this venue. We wanted to get them under 110-120 max, that was the mindset we went in with. The bowlers were excellent, and then KL and Rohit did really well” said an elated Virat Kohli after the match.
