Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has looked back at Australia’s journey to the final in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in his latest Youtube video. Barring their defeat to England, the Aussies have played flawless cricket. Their win against Pakistan sums up their intent on winning this tournament. Aaron Finch has a chance to make history on Sunday night.
Aakash Chopra said that Australia always had the talent to win the T20 World Cup. He also spoke about the team’s impressive runs this edition.
“Australia have many multi-dimensional players. In Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell, they have three all-rounders. Maxwell may not be a genuine all-rounder but he still gives you overs. Then you have got three proper fast bowlers and Adam Zampa. Look at the depth they have got in the batting. Matthew Wade came in the lower-order against Pakistan and took the game away” said Chopra.
Australia Have All Their Bases Covered: Aakash Chopra
The former Indian batsman further said that though the side might look weka on paper, yet it has all the bases covered.
“From the start of the tournament, I have been saying that Australia is a strong team. They may look weak on paper but that is certainly not the case when they take the field. They have most of their bases covered.”
Aussie skipper Aaron Finch has scored 144 runs so far in the tournament. His and Steve Smith’s form are the only concerns that the team has heading into the final. David Warner’s return to form is a good sign for Australia. The finishing abilities of Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade make the side more formidable now.

“That partnership with Stoinis was crucial. I got my feet in a tangle and opening batsmen do get a few good balls now and then in T20 cricket. We were sloppy today in the field, a couple of tough ones. As a team, need the support of all 17 players to get across the line. Have played some really good cricket in the back end. Teams chasing have been successful. There is no dew, the lights take effect. I was hoping I’d lose the toss, bat first and put up a good score on the board” said Finch after Australia’s win over Pakistan in the semi-final.
