The Indian Cricket team ended the 2nd day in a good position with 3 runs behind played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. India picked 3 remaining wickets of West Indies giving away 16 runs. It was a great batting display by Shaw who continued his good form, Rahane and Pant partnership helped team India show their dominance.
Starting the 2nd day on 295 for 7, Umesh Yadav got the breakthrough dismissing Devendra Bishoo early. Roston Chase reached his 4th century off 176 balls. Umesh Yadav took wickets of Roston Chase and Shanon Gabriel bowl West Indies for 311. In reply, Prithvi Shaw continued his aggressive touch from the first test match at Rajkot taking on West Indies bowlers. KL Rahul was dismissed cheaply again for 4. Shaw reached his half-century off just 39 balls. India went into lunch at 80 for 1.
After the lunch break, Warrican dismissed Shaw for well made 70 off 53 balls. West Indies captain Jason Holder got big wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara. Indian captain Virat Kohli and Rahane steadied the innings with good stroke play. Jason Holder got the big wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli for 45. At tea, India score was 173 for 4 with Pant and Rahane at the crease.
In the third session, it was Pant and Rahane show who took charge after the wicket of captain Kohli. Pant looked in positive touch playing both spinners and fast bowlers well. Pant reached his half-century off 67 balls while Rahane took time to reach his half-century off 122 balls. Risbabh Pant took on the West Indies spinners and put pressure back on them.
Both Rahane and Pant have added so far 146 runs for the 5th wicket. India ended the 2nd day’s play on 308 for 4, just 3 runs behind West Indies score of 311. For West Indies, Jason Holder was the pick of bowlers for West Indies with 2 for 45, while Warrican and Gabriel took 1 wicket each.
