Virat Kohli has been rested & MS Dhoni dropped squad for the T20I series against Windies. Krunal Pandya, Shahbaz Nadeem received their call-ups after their impressive performances in Vijay Hazare trophy.
The BCCI named a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Windies. Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik and Manish Pandey have been named in the middle order with the captaincy reigns being handed over to Rohit Sharma. Dhawan and KL Rahul cemented their slots in the limited over formats. With a heavy batting prowess, it will really be tough for Rohit to build a formidable playing XI.
However, the selectors said that Dhoni hasn”t been ignored but they are currently looking for someone who can act as a secondary keeper. This would, in turn, provide an opportunity for Rishabh Pant who has enjoyed a fabulous run since his debut in England.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Bumrah return to the side as their absence really hurt India in the first two ODI”s. Windies known for their class in the shortest format of the game will try to come out all guns blazing against the Kohli-less side. It would be one of the best chances for youngsters like Sundar, Pandya and Iyer to replicate their domestic performance which can, in turn, earn a permanent spot in the side.
On the other hand, India is already leading the five-match ODI series 1-0 after a tie at Vizag. The young guns from Windies are making it really tough for the home side. The third ODI is all set to be played at Pune tomorrow.
