Almost after a decade, Saurabh Netravalkar is all set to represent the national team. But this time, not the same team. He is now geared up to lead USA side in the ICC cricket league division three. While this tournament might act as a source to gain an entry to 2023 World Cup, Saurabh”s eyes are on utilizing this opportunity to the fullest.
Only a very few people are aware of the fact that this youngster played a vital role in the ill-fated Indian Under 19 side in 2010. He shared the dressing room with Sandeep Sharma, Mayank Agarwal and several other domestic stars. He also represented a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai in 2013 adding three wickets to his bag. However, Saurabh felt that his career in cricket isn”t progressing much and decided to move abroad for higher studies.
A good score in GRE and TOEFL gained him an admit from Cornell University for masters in computer science. Saurabh who is currently working in Oracle hadn”t left his passion as he kept playing for several teams in the local cricket leagues. In a recent interview to a newspaper in San Francisco, he was quoted saying that he would travel a lot of miles on his car to play the league games so as to not to lose his passion towards the gentleman”s game.
With a huge responsibility in his hands, he will be heading to Oman with his team to gain a ticket to the 2023 World Cup.
Cricfit wishes Saurabh all the very best for his future endeavors.
