Riders pull off the thriller in the last and final over of the match against
Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Russell”s knock of 49 from just 19
deliveries included 4 boundaries and 4 monstrous sixes as he alongside Shubman
Gill finished the formalities in style. Though Nitish Rana laid the foundation
for the innings, his dismissal at 16th over turned the tables in favour of the
visitors.
Sunrisers bowlers including captain
Bhuvneshwar Kumar were taken to cleaners in the final overs of the match. 71
runs were conceded by them in last five overs which costed them the match.
This isn”t the first time Russell winning
it for the home side within a short span of time. However this knock is now a
special one as this match is his 50th appearance for the two-time champions
Kolkata.
Kolkata will be playing their next game
against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday 27th of March at the same venue. Sunrisers
will be looking forward to get back their skipper Kane Williamson who is
battling an injury.
