An eight wicket win over Mumbai Indians
helped Kings XI Punjab seal third position in the points table this evening. A
complete top-order effort and brilliance with the ball by Murugan Ashwin were
the primary reasons behind their success.
It is to be noted that Kings XI Punjab
performed extremely well at their homeground Mohali in the last season. With
the same rhythm, the likes of Gayle, Rahul and Mayank found it extremely easy
to hit boundaries. Mayank”s partnership with Rahul provided them the base to
finish the game beforehand (19th over itself)
Lokesh Rahul, who was trolled for his
inconsistency over the last few months, finally answered his critics with a
fine knock of 71 off just 57 deliveries. Though he started the innings very
slow, he made sure to switch gears
towards the end. His knock included six fours and a single six. His boundaries
off Bumrah were really a treat to watch as he found to regain his lost form for
sometime now.
