No Reserve Day For Qualifiers And Eliminator Matches Of IPL 2022 Playoffs
IPL 2023

The league stage of IPL 2022 has finally ended and we are almost at the business end of the cash-rich league. Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the four teams to qualify for playoffs. It’s going to be an exciting week for all the cricket fans.

IPL 2022 playoffs are scheduled to be played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. However, the weather in Kolkata doesn’t look good for the two playoff matches scheduled in Kolkata. Heavy rain is predicted on these two days. Several cricket fans were curious as to what would happen if a playoff match couldn’t take place due to rain.

There is no reserve day for Qualifiers and Eliminator matches of IPL 2022. According to Espncricinfo “If one innings is complete but no play is possible in the second, the DLS method will be applied to determine the match result. If the game is abandoned, the team finishing higher in the points table will go ahead.”

Guidelines for playoffs also said “For the Eliminator and Qualifier playoff matches, if it is not possible to schedule a five-over match to complete by the end of the extra time on the original day. If the situation permits, the teams can play a Super Over to decide the winner of the Eliminator or Qualifier match. The Super Over would need to start at 12.50 am latest for these matches to finish.”

Reserve day scheduled for IPL 2022 Final

The IPL final will start at 8 PM. 30th May would be the reserve day for the IPL 2022 Final. According to IPL guidelines, ” If the final is not finished on the original day due to rain, then the match would be finished on the reserve day. The match will resume at the point where it stopped on the previous day.”

Reports also said, “In case no play is possible after the toss in the final, teams will have a fresh toss on the reserve day. It will comprise the same amount of playing time – five hours and 20 minutes including the two extra hours available in case of any disruption or rain.”
