Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz’s brilliant bowling performance led his team to a 120 runs victory against West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday, June 10. He bowled a ‘magic’ delivery to dismiss West Indies’ power-hitter Nicholas Pooran in the match.
Mohammad Nawaz finished the match with bowling figures of 4/40 in nine overs. He won the Player of the Match for his performance. Nawaz dismissed the likes of Shamarh Brooks, Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran, and Rovman Powell. However, his delivery to send Pooran back to the hut left everyone impressed.
In the 23rd over of the second innings, Mohammad Nawaz bowled a tossed-up delivery, which Pooran tried to block but played down the wrong line. He was beaten on the outside edge as the ball crashed onto his off-stump. Pooran managed to score 25 runs during his 36-balls stay at the crease.

Earlier in the match, Babar Azam scored 77 runs, while Imam-ul-Haq contributed 72 runs to take Pakistan to 275 runs in the first innings. The hosts managed to win the match by 120 runs and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
As an all-rounder, I try to improve with every game- Mohammad Nawaz
Mohammad Nawaz, the Player of the Match, expressed that he focused on bowling in the right areas, as the finger spinners got more spin on the ball. He added that he tries to improve his all-round game with each match. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Mohammad Nawaz said,
“I focused on my basics, I wanted to bowl in the right areas. It spun a lot. I knew if I bowled in the right areas, the pitch would help me. Shadab didn’t get the ball to spin much in the first two overs, but then even he got it to spin. Finger spinners got more spin. As an all-rounder, I try to improve with every game.”
The third and final ODI between Pakistan and West Indies will take place on Sunday, June 12 in Multan.
