An intense battle against the defending champions Australia at the Kennington Oval was finally won by the Indian side thus registering their second victory in the World Cup 2019. The match went down the wire as Alex Carey single-handedly fought till the last moment to keep his side on the race. A victory by a margin of 36 runs ensured India to sit comfortably at the third spot in the points table.
Dhawan and Rohit achieved the record for the maximum number of runs scored by the openers in the ODI format of the game against Kangaroos. They surpassed the fiery Windies combo of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes in just 22 innings and this further added a lot of enthusiasm among the Indian fans. The leadership group of Virat and Rohit scored their respective half-centuries and the man of ICC tournaments” Shikhar Dhawan yet again proved his class by bringing up his 17th century in limited overs.

Successfully hitting by Dhoni and Hardik ensured India to post a huge total in the board. Though Indian bowlers brought out their “A” game in the initial overs, dull faces were spotted after Smith”s solidity in the middle. Maxwell”s blitz further dropped down chances. However, both the pace and spin departments worked collectively in sealing the game thus dismissing the batsmen in consecutive overs.
It is to be noted that India last won a game against Australia in the World Cups in 2011 Quarterfinal. Fans are so happy in decimating the opposition which won the ODI series at the Indian soil couple of months ago.
India will face NewZealand on June 13th, Thursday at Nottingham before the most awaited clash against Pakistan on June 16th.

Dhawan’s coming back to form was critical for the success of India’s campaign. Hardik smashing the way it did adds so much more to the batting order. Dhoni firing. Kohli scoring. The new version of Rohit. Life’s good ☺️🤗 #IndvAus #CWC19
