Veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli has begun training ahead of the 4-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. The warm-up game will serve as a preparation match for the Indian team.

Following the warm-up match, the Indian team will play the fifth rescheduled test match against England. The match will take place from July 1 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has begun his training for the upcoming matches.

On Wednesday, Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s official Twitter handle shared a video featuring Virat Kohli. The right-handed batter was seen working on his batting skills in the clip. The Leicestershire County Cricket Club captioned it as,

“A master at work 🔥 You can watch @imVkohli and @BCCI’s other test superstars tomorrow at the Uptonsteel County Ground.”

Virat Kohli was the skipper of the Indian team, the last time they toured England. Under his leadership, India won two test matches in 2021 and took a 2-1 lead in the five-match test series.

Ahead of the fifth test, several members of the Indian contingent test covid positive. As a result, the fifth test was postponed and will take place this year in Birmingham. In the four test matches, Virat Kohli had scored 218 runs at an average of 31.14 and a strike rate of 46.48.

Virat Kohli had tested covid positive but has now recovered: Reports

As per the latest report in the Times of India, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli had tested positive for the covid-19 virus, but he has recovered. The right-handed batter is fit to play the fifth test match for India.

However, the Indian team is skeptical about more covid-19 cases in the team. They will assort to a cautious approach in the warm-up as per the advice of the Medical staff.

This now means that India’s tour game against Leicestershire from June 24 won’t be as intense as coach Rahul Dravid wanted it to be, since the medical advice is to not overload the players after they’ve suffered Covid-19.” said a source to the TOI.
