Shreyas Iyer once again disappointed with the bat in the second innings of the Indian team at Edgbaston. Iyer managed to score just 19 runs in the second innings. He didn’t look at ease in the test match. England bowlers continuously used the tactics of short pitch bowling to Iyer for troubling him.
When Iyer came to bat, England test team coach Brendon McCullum signalled from the dressing room to bowl short balls to Iyer. He pointed towards his neck to signal that Iyer should be attacked with short pitch balls. Eventually Shreyas was dismissed on a short pitched ball by Matty Potts.
Brendon McCullum was also the coach of Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. He must be knowing about all the weaknesses of KKR Captain Shreyas Iyer. Brendon McCullum recently stepped down from the position of Head Coach of KKR because he was appointed as England’s test team coach.
