As the World Cup has almost come to an end, the focus is on the much-awaited rivalry, The Ashes. What”s special in this year”s Ashes is its inclusion in the ICC World Test Championship. Both the sides haven”t been at their best in the longest format of the game and it will be interesting who will come out at the top.
After their first ever World Cup semi-final loss, Australian players have arrived home earlier today. Cricket Australia announced a list of 25-probables who will be further shortlisted into 15 in few
days to come. The series commences on August 1st, and the squads of both the sides are expected to be announced in a week”s time.
What”s interesting in the list is the exclusion of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis who haven”t been at their brutal best in the World tournament. A poor average with the bat and ball costed them an Ashes spot. Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft returned to the test side after a period of 17 months and it will really be a test of character for them as the series is taking place in England.
