Kuldeep Yadav’s extended omission from the Indian Test and limited-overs playing XI has posed a lot of questions about the future of the Indian cricketer. The left-arm leg-spinner has had a strange career of late which has seen him regularly being picked for the India Test and ODI squads but getting a spot in the playing XI has been difficult. He played only one of the four Tests and was not included in any of the five T20I games despite being a part of the squad.
Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra has questioned the sense behind keeping Kuldeep Yadav in the squad and not giving him games. While previewing the first ODI on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that the team management can think about playing Chahal and Kuldeep together in the ODIs.

Play Both Kuldeep Yadav & Yuzvendra Chahal – Aakash Chopra
“You can try what you want in fast bowling but in the spin department, you should please play both Kuldeep and Chahal because if you don’t play them here also, then what will Kuldeep do. You don’t play him in the Tests or T20s, if you don’t play him in the ODIs also then what’s the point,” Aakash Chopra said.
Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Deep Dasgupta too has thrown his weight behind the inclusion of Kuldeep in the Indian playing XI in the ODIs.
“I am glad that Kuldeep Yadav is there as well. You would ideally want Kuldeep to play a few games here. He has been a part of the white-ball teams but basically been a passenger over the last 2 years,” Dasgupta added.
While speaking in favour of Kuldeep, Deep Dasgupta said that Yuzvendra Chahal’s T20I performance is questionable and puts him in a spot of bother.
Chahal and Kuldeep are India’s new age spin-twins in the shorter formats of the game but have not played together often since the 2019 ICC World Cup in England. It will be interesting to see if both of them play together in any of the three games. The first game will be played on Match 23 followed by the last two on March 26 & 28.
