Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Indian thinktank deciding to drop Yuzvendra Chahal in the fourth T20I against England. Chahal overtook Jasprit Bumrah as the highest wicket-taker in T20Is for India in the third game. He went for 41ff his four overs and picked up just one wicket. Rahul Chahar was drafted into the side in his place for the fourth game. India need to defend 185 if they are to win this game and take the series to a decider on Saturday.

Meanwhile, talking to Star Sports in the pre-match show, Aakash Chopra criticised the Indian thinktank for dropping the leg spinner despite a bad game. Meanwhile, Chahal picked up just three wickets in the first three games, one per match.

Yuzvendra Chahal Was Hard Done By: Aakash Chopra

“Yuzi Chahal… I feel was slightly hard done by. I would have played him today come what may. Yes, he was expensive in the last few games, I’d have still played him,” Chopra said on Star Sports.

Chopra further said that the team management should have backed Chahal just like they did for KL Rahul. After three failures in the first three games, Rahul scored 14 in the fourth game.

“Like KL Rahul, Chahal is also your primary player when you look at the preparations, you want to focus, rather invest on a lot of players. If KL Rahul is one of them the batting department, in the bowling department Chahal is your guy,” said Chopra.

Aakash Chopra also seemed concerned with the batting position of Suryakumar Yadav ahead of the start of the game. Surya batted at number three and scored a brilliant 57 before he was ruled out due to a controversial decision. Batting at number six, Shreyas Iyer scored a useful 37 off 18 and played his part in taking India to 185/8.

“Coming to Suryakumar Yadav… Where would you bat him? Shreyas Iyer was your best batsman in the first game when he was batting at 4 or 5 but now he has been pushed down to sis. If Suryakumar comes in, you bat him at six/seven or put him at four?” he said.
