One of the best batsman and legend AB de Villiers has decided to announce retirement from international cricket today. He made it clear that he wanted to give chances to other players and had a remarkable journey in a South African team.
This is a big news for South African Cricket before the World Cup 2019. AB de Villiers played a total of 114 test matches, 228 ODI’s and 78 T20I’s match. He made his test debut against England in 2004 and scored 8765 runs with an average of 50.66, with 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries.  His best score in the longer format of cricket has been 278.
His One-day international debut was against England in 2005. Since then he played 228 ODI’s and scored 9577 runs with an outstanding average of 53.5, with 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries. His best score in ODI format was 176. He holds the record of fastest century in One-day internationals.
AB de Villiers has featured in 78 T20I matches for South Africa since his debut in 2006. He scored 1672 runs with 0 centuries and 10 half-centuries. His innovative stroke play and ability to put fear in bowlers mind made him one of the greatest batsmen.
AB de Villiers made a tough decision to retire from international cricket. He would continue to play domestic cricket and also help Faf du Plessis. The legend AB de Villiers has been a star in the Indian Premier League making his debut in 2008 for Delhi Daredevils.
In the recently concluded IPL 11, AB de Villiers was the star with the bat scoring 480 runs in 12 matches with an average of 53.33. He could not help Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise to qualify for the knockouts stage after losing to Rajasthan Royals.
The South African legend thanked the fans in South Africa and all over the world for his unconditional love. After playing test series against India and Australia at home, AB de Villiers announced his retirement at Pretoria.
AB de Villiers was also the captain of the South African side and decided to step down from captaincy last year.
South Africa is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for a full tour in July. With AB de Villiers missing, it would be a big blow for the Faf du Plessis led side.
