Ab de Villiers was run out in the dying stages of a thrilling opening match of IPL 2021. The great South African batsman once again put on an exhibition of high-class batting and took his time on the verge of a victory. Ab de Villiers was in the zone from ball one as he kept dealing in boundaries even when wickets kept falling at the other end. Post the dismissal of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell onus was on De Villiers to take his side home when the required run rate had climbed to 12.

Talking about De Villiers run-out it was complete madness as he attempted a very risky run when RCB needed just 3 runs in the last over. The great batsman wanted to keep the strike and finish it himself which is why he attempted a second run which was never on. De Villiers picked his spot and just punched the delivery to mid-wicket and started sprinting for 2 runs with his partner Harshal Patel.

Krunal Pandya got to the ball in a flash and his bullet throw proved to be too much for De Villiers as he was found miles out of his crease. He put a desperate dive but was still short of his crease as it gave MI an outside chance to win. De Villiers scored 48 in mere 27 balls and his knock included 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Eventually, RCB finally wrapped up the match and won a close contest against MI by 2 wickets in Chennai and collected 2 valuable points.
