Adam Gilchrist expressed profound disappointment and frustration when fabricated quotations, supposedly from him, started circulating on social media. These misleading statements falsely portrayed him as criticizing the Pakistan cricket team.
Specifically, a Facebook account disseminated alleged remarks where Gilchrist purportedly stated, “Pakistan is the worst Asian team in Australian conditions; what have they achieved here in the last 35 years?”
Responding swiftly to this misrepresentation, Gilchrist took to X, previously referred to as Twitter, to set the record straight. He vehemently denied ever making such derogatory comments, declaring them as entirely fictitious and fabricated.
Gilchrist took the opportunity to commend the Pakistan team for their commendable performance, especially during the three-match Test series against Australia. Although Pakistan, under the leadership of Shan Masood, faced a 0-3 series defeat, they exhibited moments of brilliance.
Adam Gilchrist said "It was a fake statement, I never said anything about Pakistan being the worst side. Pakistan were excellent at times this summer, against a world champion Australia team and very nearly pinched a Test or two"

Adam Gilchrist acknowledged Pakistan’s commendable efforts against the formidable Australian side, highlighting their near-victories in Melbourne and Sydney after a significant loss in Perth. Despite Aamer Jamal’s remarkable performance in Sydney, where he claimed six wickets and scored 82 runs to provide Pakistan a first-innings lead, the team couldn’t maintain their momentum, ultimately succumbing to Australia by eight wickets.
Furthermore, Pakistan’s struggle on Australian soil persisted, marking their 17th consecutive Test defeat in the country. Looking ahead, Pakistan is gearing up for a fresh start in T20Is under the leadership of their new captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Their inaugural challenge is against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the first T20I scheduled for Friday, January 12, at Eden Park in Auckland. In preparation, Pakistan revealed their playing XI, including the promising fast bowler Abbas Afridi, who is poised to make his international debut.
