The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently took a welcome step towards greater transparency by sharing an official update on the medical status of five Indian cricketers.
Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant were the players under scrutiny, and cricket fans expressed their delight at receiving concrete information from the board itself.
Traditionally, the BCCI had refrained from regularly providing medical updates on players, leaving fans to rely on unofficial sources for news about injured players and their recovery progress.
However, the latest statement from the board marks a refreshing change in approach, thanks to the influence of the new chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, who appears to be fostering greater transparency within the team management.
The BCCI’s official statement, posted on their website, informed fans about the recovery progress of fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, both of whom had undergone surgeries earlier in the year.
According to the update, the medical team expressed satisfaction with their current status, as both Bumrah and Krishna have resumed bowling activities.
In preparation for potential selection in the Indian squad, the duo will be participating in practice matches at the National Cricket Academy.

The board emphasized that Bumrah and Krishna are in the final stages of their rehab and training with full intensity in the nets.
Their progress will be closely monitored, and a final decision regarding their selection will be made after assessing their performances in the practice matches organized by the NCA.
KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer were also the focus of the update. Both players have resumed batting practice in the nets at the National Cricket Academy and have been engaging in strength and fitness drills.
KL Rahul even shared a video of himself working on his leg strength at the gym, reassuring fans of his dedication to return to the game.
As for Rishabh Pant, the board revealed that he is currently following a comprehensive rehab program, which includes a focus on strength training, flexibility exercises, and running sessions.
Cricket enthusiasts on social media platforms widely praised the BCCI for providing this detailed and transparent update.
