All you need to know about the ICC World Test Championship

The World Test championship is to bring Test cricket into the relevance and the larger audience comes together. The 2019 Ashes starting from 1st August will be a part of ICC Test championship. It will begin from 1st August 2019 and finish on June 2021. 

The ICC Test Championship will feature nine nations including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, England, Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh. This tournament will be played over two years. Each team will play six oppositions with three home and three Test matches. Each series will comprise two to five matches. 

The top teams in the league stage will qualify for the finals to be played in England in June 2021. All the matches consist of 5 days. 

Each series will carry a maximum of 120 points. For a 2 match Test series, the teams will be awarded 60 points for a win, 30 points for a tie, 20 points for a draw and 0 points for a defeat.

As for the 3 match Test series goes on, the team winning a Test match will be awarded 40 points, 20 points for a tie, 13.3 for a draw and 0 points for a defeat. For a 4 match Test series, the team will be awarded 30 points for a win, 15 points for a tie, 10 points for a draw and 0 points for a draw. 

For a long 5 match Test series, the team will be awarded 24 points for a win, 12 points for a tie, 8 points for a draw and 0 points for a defeat.
