This year has been a cherishable one for Ambati Rayudu. After his scintillating knocks in this year”s IPL, dreams of coming back to the Indian side became a reality as he is now an indispensable asset for the number four position. Not just as a player, his guidance has also helped the CSK junior side to win a tournament overseas.
With a lot of white-ball opportunities coming in, the 33-year old has decided to retire from the longest format of the game. Ambati Rayudu has represented more than a couple of sides in the domestic tournaments including Vidarbha, Hyderabad and Baroda.
A press release from Hyderabad Cricket Association read “Hyderabad Captain and Member of India ODI team Ambati Rayudu has decided to retire from the longer version of the game including Ranji Trophy (multi-day) to focus on limited overs cricket and T20 cricket. Rayudu will continue to play international and domestic matches of a shorter version. Ambati has thanked BCCI, Hyderabad Cricket Association, Andhra Cricket Association, Baroda Cricket Association and Vidarbha Cricket.”
It is to be noted that Ambati Rayudu has been giving his best to cement his spot in ODI formats. In fact, after his poor performances in Yo-yo test, Rayudu has been following a very strict diet to keep himself fit so as to be a part of 2019 World Cup. With a very limited number of matches ahead of the CWC, Rayudu will be trying to show his class in the overseas tours.
