Team India has been knocked out of the 2022 T20 World Cup after suffering an embarrassing defeat against England in the semi-final on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval. They were beaten convincingly by 10 wickets, with four overs to spare. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales put up a dazzling show on the ground for the fans, as they chased down 169 runs.
England asked India to bat first after winning the toss. The Rohit Sharma-led team got off the wrong foot as they lost their opener, KL Rahul, early. The Indian batters managed small partnerships, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Virat Kohli slammed his fourth fifty of the tournament, while Hardik Pandya smashed 63 runs off 33 deliveries. India managed to put on 168 runs on the board.
The second innings witnessed absolute carnage at the Adelaide Oval by the England openers. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales took on the Indian bowlers, smashing them all around the park. The duo remained unbeaten in taking their team to the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Buttler scored 80 runs off 49 deliveries, while Alex Hales smashed 86 runs, and won the Player of the Match award.

Annihilation! India have had no answer to England today, batting or bowling

Strange tactics from India – looked very nervy from the start, Sharma been very circumspect through tournament. Kohli does well when he holds everything together/ acts as the glue but only works when others have a day out. #ENGvIND #T20Iworldcup2022

This is a very embarrassing loss for India. England always had the advantage considering the venue, conditions and their long batting line-up, but losing a semi-final clash like this is just very poor. #INDvENG | #T20WorldCup

If we're being serious about any success in the future, Rohit and Rahul shouldn't play another T20 for India.

Pretty disappointed how it turned out: Rohit Sharma
Team India’s skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his disappointment as they lost against England by 10 wickets in the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. He expressed that they couldn’t turn up with the ball in the mega-clash. The skipper also lauded the England openers, who remained unbeaten to take their team home. He said at the post-match presentation,
“Pretty disappointed how it turned out today. We batted well at the back end to get that score. We were not up to the mark with the ball, we couldn’t turn up today. It’s all about handling the pressure in knockout games. All these guys have played enough to understand that. These guys have played under pressure in IPL games, it’s all about keeping calm. We were nervy to start with, but you got to give credit to their openers, they played really well.”
