Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, has been selected in the Karnataka under-16 probable list for the Vijay Merchant Trophy, set to begin on December 6. Anvay, a wicketkeeper-batsman, is among three selected keepers in the 35-member squad, joining Aditya Jha and Joy James.
Anvay previously led the Karnataka under-14 team in an inter-zone tournament, where he showcased his skill with an unbeaten double century, scoring 200 runs for Bangalore Zone against Tumkur Zone in the KSCA Under-16 Inter Zonal event, a performance that drew significant attention to his talent.
Sibling Success in Cricket: Samit Dravid’s Contribution
Anvay’s older brother, Samit Dravid, is also making strides in Karnataka cricket, currently participating in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Recently, Samit, an all-rounder known for his medium-pace, contributed a commendable 71 off 141 balls (with 11 fours) against Baroda.
Despite his efforts, Karnataka fell to Baroda by a significant margin, losing by an innings and 212 runs. The Dravid brothers’ simultaneous involvement in state-level cricket reflects the family’s strong cricketing legacy, with both sons following closely in their father Rahul Dravid’s footsteps.
