As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction approaches, Arshdeep Singh, one of India’s promising left-arm pacers, is generating interest from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Released by Punjab Kings despite being their leading wicket-taker in IPL 2024 with 19 wickets in 14 matches, Arshdeep’s performance in the recent T20 World Cup further highlighted his capabilities; he claimed 17 wickets in eight games, making him the second-highest wicket-taker.
With the auction set to take place in Jeddah on November 24-25, sources suggest that KKR is strongly considering Arshdeep to bolster their pace attack as they aim for an all-Indian bowling lineup in the upcoming season.
Arshdeep’s Social Media Spark Rumors
Adding to speculation, Arshdeep has deleted almost all his Instagram posts related to Punjab Kings, except for two older images, hinting at a possible new team allegiance. The 24-year-old’s social media activity has intensified rumors of a move to KKR, where he may take on a leading role in the bowling lineup. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, opted to retain young players like Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, parting ways with several others as they prepare for mega auction.
KKR’s Search for a Powerplay Explosive
KKR’s ambitions for IPL 2025 extend beyond bolstering their bowling. The franchise is looking for a dynamic opener with a profile similar to England’s Jos Buttler, who could partner with Sunil Narine to deliver strong starts in the powerplay. In IPL 2024, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine were KKR’s opening pair, but with Salt now released, KKR may seek a replacement at the auction. The franchise retained key players like Narine, Andre Russell, and Rinku Singh, while planning for a robust lineup despite potential challenges with England players’ availability due to their packed international schedule.
