Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has revealed his choice for the most expensive overseas player in the upcoming IPL 2021 auction. The IPL 2021 Auction is all set to be held in Chennai on February 18. It will be broadcasted live on Star Sports network in India from 3 pm and on the Hotstar app for live streaming. As many as 292 players will go under the hammer as the franchisees will battle it out amongst themselves to get the best player as per their team requirements. Kings XI Punjab will enter into the auction with a maximum purse of Rs 53.20 crore.

10 players have the maximum bracket of 2 crores as the base price. Those players are namely Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav are the two Indian players in the list. Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood are the overseas recruits in the list.

Talking to Stat Sports on s special edition IPL auction show, Ashish Nehra revealed his choice for the most expensive overseas player in the auction.

Ashish Nehra Picks His Costliest Overseas Player In IPL 2021

“Again, one more IPL auction and plenty of big names, but one name, which according to me is right on top – can be the most expensive player of this IPL auction – is Bangladesh all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan (former captain). He can give balance to any IPL team in any T20,” Nehra said on Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected – Auction Special.

Meanwhile, the IPL is all set to be played in India this year, after it was staged in the UAE last year. The BCCI earlier said that staging the IPL this year is very much a possibility with proper restrictions being followed. 

With the crowds finally coming back into the stadiums, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also said that they will be looking forward to hosting spectators for the IPL games as well. 

“This year is going to be big as well because of what it is. We’ll see whether we can get the crowd back into the IPL, it’s a decision we’ll have to take very shortly. But it’s going to be another great tournament,” Ganguly said.
